Members from Norwich Fitness Club all finished the gruelling Zombie Evacuation Race challenge, raising more than £1,500 for Cancer Research UK.

The club, which meets at Eaton Park and Whitlingham Broad near Trowse, went to Cambridge to complete the unique endurance experience for the cancer charity because a member of the group, Sue Hampson, had seen her brother, Paul Shepperd, 47, diagnosed with a brain tumour.

The 45-year-old mum-of-two said the whole group knew someone who had been affected by cancer.

She said: “It is something that is close to everybody’s hearts.

“And the challenge was so much fun, and the team support was massive.”

The brave group completed the challenge, which had them running through different terrains with zombie characters jumping out and chasing them along the way. The club members have been training with Brad Fisher, 28, from Drayton Road, owner of Norwich Fitness Club, has been putting the 28 members through their paces in preparation for the challenge.

He said the group did well and that all the members completed the challenge, despite the obstacles.
