Norwich pupil, Perry Cooke, raises £6,000 for charity with first performance since appearing on the Voice Kids UK

Perry Cooke, 14, from Thorpe End, took to the stage on the show back in spring of this year, where he shared the story of how he raised thousands for charity.

Now, he is continuing his charity work with his first official public performance since his appeared on the show.

The inspiration for his charity fundraising came after the death of his grandad Kenny Cooke in 2012.

Every year since, on the anniversary of his death, Perry and his family have raised money for the NNUH with a charity party at their yard in Swanton Road, Norwich.

The event, now in it fifth year, has raised more than £20,000 with performances from Perry and fellow Norwich artist Dominic Uppiah.

This year was the largest charity party the family has hosted. Perry's mother Debbie Cooke said: 'The first year we did it we got around £2,000 and then every year it has just gone up and up. Last year it was more than £4,000 and I thought we were never going to better it but I couldn't believe it.

'I want to say thank you to everyone who took part and helped organise it.'

Hazel Butchers, in Norwich, donated all the meat for the barbecue and this year the party was able to have a full bar hosted by Norwich pub The William IV.

'We had a proper bar there this year. When we started off it was just a table with us selling drinks for £1, but now with have a proper bar with loads of people helping.

'People offered raffle prizes and it just gets bigger and better every year.'

In previous years Perry has raised money through selling DVDs that he was able to make after winning a talent competition at the Norwich School in 2013.

The family is planning on continuing the tradition of raising money with Perry in the process of recording records which will be sold for charity.
