An extra venue has been added to this year’s Oxjam, as the festival’s website is launched.
The announcement was made ahead of a busy weekend for the Oxjam Norwich team, with a presence at Reepham Festival tomorrow (Saturday) and a free gig at the Plasterers Arms in Cowgate on Sunday.
Matt Colley, one of the organisers, urged people to come along to this weekend’s fun events as they approach their £1,000 charity target.
Oxjam will have a second-hand clothes stall and a bake sale at Reepham Festival tomorrow.
And the music will take centre stage on Sunday as the Plasterers Arms in Cowgate hosts an evening of musical entertainment.
The show starts from 7pm, featuring local favourites Miserable Man and a host of support acts.
“It’s a really exciting feeling as the main festival comes together,” said Mr Colley. “It’s our first attempt at putting on something of this magnitude.
“It’s a lot of trial and error and we’re learning on our feet, but we’ve been overwhelmed by the goodwill we’ve received from the public.
“We hope to spread that goodwill throughout the city.”
It has been a busy few weeks for the Oxjam Norwich festival committee, after two successful music events and a football tournament in July.
Further gigs are planned ahead of the main Oxjam weekend, with an open mic showcase at Blueberry Music House in Cowgate on Saturday, August 23.
It starts at 4pm, with free entry and all welcome to take part.
Mr Colley said the committee is close to reaching its £1,000 goal in advance of the September 1 deadline, and is readying itself for a final fundraising push - with every penny raised going directly to Oxfam.
The main event takes place on Saturday, October 4, with Gonzo’s Tea Room - formerly Kartel - having joined Karma Kafe, The Birdcage, The Owl Sanctuary and Bedford’s in hosting the festival.
The festival’s main headliners will be announced soon, along with details of how to purchase your festival wristband.
There will also be a launch gig on Thursday, October 2 at Open.
