Oxjam festival bosses are ramping up their summer schedule, with two more Norwich charity gigs revealed.

The announcements come as the build-up to the main all-dayer in October - set to be the biggest Oxjam the Fine City has ever seen - continues.

Music fans are invited to a blues night at the Birdcage in Pottergate next Saturday.

Headline performers Charlie Harper's Rhythm and Blues Review have a long and storied career, with Charlie himself having headlined the Montreal Jazz Festival.

He has been touring the world for more than 50 years, and the band's keyboard player Max Middleton has played with legendary guitarist Jeff Beck as well as touring and recording with Kate Bush and John Martyn.

Support comes from local favourite bluesman Ian Elson.

Doors open at 7.30pm, and tickets cost £3 – with all proceeds going to Oxjam.

The following weekend Oxjam, which is sponsored by the Norwich Evening News, has a diverse double to offer.

On Saturday, July 26 there will be a six-a-side football tournament at the Football Development Centre in Bowthorpe, starting at 1pm. To register a squad of eight players for £40, visit the event page at facebook.com/events/652979321453083

The following day, Oxjam will be hosting an acoustic stage at the Lenwade House Garden Party.

On a secluded sun terrace overlooking the River Wensum, a line-up of laid-back local talent will serenade the partygoers.

Organisers promise a terrifically diverse range of entertainment, with something for everyone.

Entertainment will include bouncy castles, face painting and a petting zoo.

The fun events follow Oxjam's June fundraiser at the Rose Tavern, hailed as an 'overwhelming success' by organisers.

Norwich Oxjam 2014 will take place on Saturday, October 4.

Bands will play at The Birdcage, the Owl Sanctuary, Karma Kafe and Bedfords, with the line-up beginning to take shape.

Organisers needs to raise at least £1,000 for Oxfam by September, and the latest events will help them on their way.

There will be a launch gig on Thursday, October 2 at Open.

Further announcements, including a new and improved website, two more live music events in August, plus details of how to get your festival wristband and how to sponsor Oxjam Norwich 2014, will be made soon.
