A care home worker spent five hours bathing in baked beans to raise money for a charity which supports people with dementia.

Kirk Faulkner, a senior carer at Brooklands Care Home in Costessey Lane, Drayton, which specialises in dementia care, sat in a paddling pool of baked beans in the reception area, from 10am to 3pm yesterday.

He has already raised about 300 for the Alzheimer's Society with more to come in.

The carer, who lives in Norwich, said afterwards: 'It was cold, and it was nice to get in a hot shower afterwards, but it was worthwhile and for a good cause.

'I just said I would do it off the cuff, but I think I may have opened a Pandora's Box now, as I might be challenged to do other events.'
