A care home worker spent five hours bathing in baked beans to raise money for a charity which supports people with dementia.

Kirk Faulkner, a senior carer at Brooklands Care Home in Costessey Lane, Drayton, which specialises in dementia care, sat in a paddling pool of baked beans in the reception area, from 10am to 3pm yesterday.

He has already raised about £300 for the Alzheimer’s Society with more to come in.

The carer, who lives in Norwich, said afterwards: “It was cold, and it was nice to get in a hot shower afterwards, but it was worthwhile and for a good cause.

“I just said I would do it off the cuff, but I think I may have opened a Pandora’s Box now, as I might be challenged to do other events.”
