Norwich City Concert Band will kick off its first concert of 2014 at the Great Hospital in Norwich.
Led by musical director Brian Dermott, the concert will be at the Bishopgate venue on Wednesday and the band will perform a varied selection of traditional polkas, military marches and songs from West End musicals.
The concert for Great Hospital residents is an annual event in the NCCB calendar and the Deputy Mayor and Sheriff of Norwich are due to attend.
The proceeds from the concert will go towards Norwich City Concert Band’s 2014 charity - the East Coast Truckers Charity which raises monies for children in the East Anglia region.
The band aims to raise more than £1,000 throughout the year from its concerts which will help towards the annual children’s convoy to Pleasurewood Hills.
Norwich City Concert Band’s first 2014 concert open to the public has the theme West End Show and Film Music and will take place at St Benedict’s Church, in Horning, on Friday, March 7.
The concert will start at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £7 in advance from Tidings Newsagents, in Horning, or the church warden on 01692 630369. They can also be purchased on the door.
