Rossis has been running its leisure complex in the town for almost 30 years.

And a spokesman for the Tungate Road firm said the opening of JR’s diner at the site in July was a significant investment in both team and facilities.

JR’s all-American diner will be open daily from 9am until late.

The menu will feature fresh, homecooked food with all the American favourites from burgers and dogs to macaroni cheese. Customers will also be able to grab a shake, cocktail or a craft beer before hitting the bowling lanes.

Director of operations Chris Carr said: “People are going to see significant changes at Rossis as JR’s encompasses a brand-new philosophy of fun for the whole family offering the chance to stomp, dine and strike.

“The popular children’s indoor play area is being refreshed and will have the new Stomp café offering daytime snacks and coffee while Strike ten-pin bowling will also have a fab new look with funky lanes offering lane-side food service while you bowl.”

The news has been welcomed by Nicholas Lee, chairman of North Walsham Chamber for Business, who said: “Any investment in the town is good news. North Walsham is still a growing town and we welcome this kind of investment in the area.”

Whilst building works are completed, Strikers will close on June 4 and Stompers will close on June 11 with no hot food available from June 5.

John and Betty Rossi opened an indoor bowls club next to the family farm in the 1970s. Bruce Rossi took over the running of the business in 1997 and still manages it. The name of the new venture, JR’s, is a nod to John Rossi.

The firm currently employs more than 50 staff across the site which comprises an air-conditioned gym, fitness suites, squash courts, a heated swimming pool with sauna, a steam room, solarium and spa pool as well as eight indoor and outdoor bowling greens.
