Lowestoft Town FC has forged an 'exciting partnership' to deliver football group sessions in conjunction with Sentinel Leisure Trust and the North Suffolk Football Community.

Andy Reynolds, first team assistant manager and head of football development at Lowestoft Town FC, said: 'A number of really good things are happening on and off the pitch. When Jamie and I arrived back at the club, we spoke about young lads locally being able to see a pathway into the first team.

'We had five players from our scholars on the bench on Tuesday last week, with three coming on so we feel the shoots of recovery are there for us to build on – and we have now unveiled a more joined up youth football pathway.

'We have launched an exciting partnership with North Suffolk Football Community and Sentinel Leisure Trust to deliver our 'pre-13' programme from the current season. This programme will be for all age groups from U7 to U12 providing both advanced and community group sessions.'

He added: 'It has been felt that a working relationship between the existing programmes will be able to provide a much more appropriate level of support for all children participating in both programmes and allows both Lowestoft Town FC and the North Suffolk Football Community to pool our resources in the best interest of young local players.'

After talks between officials at the Amber Dew Events Stadium with Gaven Tipple at the North Suffolk Football Community and Sentinel the new links have been forged, meaning youngsters aged between nine and 16 across the town can now join North Suffolk.

Free taster sessions were held at Barnards Meadow soccer centre on Monday, with a focus on gaining confidence on the ball while learning new skills and techniques and improving. For those interested in the sessions, and to find out more, email enquiries@footballacademy.org.uk

Mr Reynolds added: 'We want to do as much as we can with the young players to ensure they stay in love with the game when they are older. When they reach U13 level, there is the opportunity to carry on training with North Suffolk or continue with Lowestoft Town FC – with huge opportunities being offered in the future at the club as we progress links with Ipswich Town FC.'
