A North Norfolk store is offering families struggling to cope with the loss of a child bags of support.

Roys of Wroxham Ltd presented the Norwich-based child bereavement charity Nelson’s Journey with £10,000 raised from the sale of 5p carrier bags at its eight stores and Highway Garden and Leisure, after being chosen as its charity of the year.

Sarah Hyde, from Nelson’s Journey, said: “We are absolutely amazed by the incredible support offered from Roy’s and their customers.”

The 5p carrier bag scheme has already raised £10,000, which could fund 40 children to attend one of the charity’s therapeutic residential weekends at Hilltop in Sheringham. The weekends are packed full of team building, coping strategies and memory work with other children and young people of a similar age.

Ed Roy, managing director at Roy’s, said: “We would like to thank every customer who purchased a carrier bag.”
