Organisers of a popular north Norfolk music festival are appealing for volunteers to help run stalls and games at the annual event, which regularly raises more than £3,000 for local good causes.
Now in its sixth year, Rock Bodham, which is held on the village playing fields, attracts hundreds of families from all over the area.
The festival kicks off on Saturday, July 22, with live music from 1.30pm, while on Sunday, bands will be performing at local pub the Red Hart.
As well as a top-notch line-up of Norfolk bands, the two-day event will this year feature a bar and a barbecue, as well as children’s attractions ranging from traditional games and stalls, to a bouncy castle and circus skills workshops.
Headlining on Saturday are Suffolk-based “band of the undead” Bloodshake Chorus, who play 60s and 70s classics with a gruesome twist, while topping the bill on Sunday are Red Leaf - who play a mixture of covers by artists ranging from Bruno Mars and Stevie Wonder, to Foo Fighters and Muse.
Other acts include DJ Naughty Daughty, Knotted, The Stereotypes and The Dulcet Tones, as well as Rock Bodham regulars including Motown and funk band Soul Alliance and Sheringham band The Generals.
Also taking the stage will be talented Norwich singer songwriter Liberty Popey, who won last year’s Sheringham Battle of the Bands.
Festival secretary Callum Ringer said this year’s line-up was an exciting mix of new acts and well-known Norfolk bands.
He appealed for local music-lovers to come forward to help with the event, which, since it was first held in 2012, has handed out £15,000 to local good causes ranging from Sheringham Sports Association and Bodham village hall, to the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
“To be able to make as much money as we can, we really need as many people to help as possible,” he said. “We have stalls and games ready to go, but they won’t run themselves and if people can give up a couple of hours we can ensure we make as much as possible for charity.
Rock Bodham runs at Bodham playing fields, on Cromer Road, on July 22 and at the Red Hart on July 23. If you could spare a few hours to help run a stall or man the barbecue or gates, Phone Callum Ringer on 07824 381519.
