Children and adults across the county are taking part in the final push to raise money for the 2016 Children in Need appeal which takes place tonight.

Children and adults across the county are taking part in the final push to raise money for the 2016 Children in Need appeal which takes place tonight.

With thousands being raised across the county over the past few weeks groups are doing their bit today to make this year the best yet.

A busy day has been planned at Wymondham Leisure Centre today with BBC Radio Norfolk's Children in Need Sports Day running alongside the Leisure Centre's spin-a-thon.

Groups from across Norfolk, including the Sheringham Little Theatre, Wymondham High Academy and Wymondham Leisure Centre, are taking part in a range of activities across the day including archery, volleyball and a basketball competition.

Staff of Wymondham Leisure Centre are also taking part in a spin-a-thon throughout the day with people taking 30 minute stints on spinning bikes to see which team cover the largest distance across the day.

At Whitlingham Outdoor Education Centre teams will take part in the tenth annual Pudsey Paddle and go head to head to win the Pudsey Paddle trophy. There will also be an award for the team with the best fancy dress.

Students at West Earlham Infant and Primary School take part in an inflatable assault course at 3.15pm today with staff dressed as Pudsey's guiding them through the course.

A team of Aviva employees in Norwich have so far raised £967 for Children in Need by cycling 300 miles in their office.

Suzy Knights, Jim Hozier, Andy Aylott and Tim Wickham are each aiming to cycle 75 miles on exercise bikes in their office on Surrey Street in Norwich. They started at 8am and are expecting it to take around 8 hours.

It was Mrs Knights who came up with the idea. She said: 'Children in Need has always been close to my heart' said Suzy. ' This goes some small way to help those who are less fortunate than us.'

Caister Junior School, Great Yarmouth, raised money for Children in Need today with a staff cake sale and the whole school wearing non-school uniform or a Pudsey T-shirts. One parent made a cake to raffle and groups of children made friendship bracelets to sell.

Students and staff at Easton and Otley College ran a bake sale in aid of Children in Need. Staff also brought their teddy bears to work in order to raise money for the charity.

College spokesperson, John Nice, said, 'It's great to take part in Children in Need. It raises so much money for a wide variety of important campaigns and we are always delighted to do our bit.'

St William's Primary School, in Thorpe St Andrew raised £285.53 for Children in Need today when all students and teachers came to school in their pajamas.

At Archant Media, on Rouen Road, Norwich, Senior Accounts manager, Steve Maddams and Weddings General Manager, Diana Sims, raised £1,161 from a raffle, quiz and cakes in Prospect House They expect the amount will be doubled by the Archant Gold Scheme, resulting in a grand total of £2,322.

Yesterday BBC Radio Norfolk Presenter, Nick Conrad, finished his four day Children in Need run along the North Norfolk Coastal Path which saw him run 45 miles while stopping to present his show along the way.

Earlier in the week six young riders, accompanied by the BBC's The One Show presenter Matt Baker, rode into King's Lynn, as part of the Rickshaw Challenge for BBC Children in Need.

Earlier in the month the BBC Radio Norfolk Treasure Quest team raised a total of £4553.03 from their live show at the Norwich Playhouse.

Driving instructors and learner drivers took part in the local leg of the Big Learner Relay, a nation wide drive to raise money for the charity. The convoy raised over £43,8882 from the event which saw them drive from Norwich to Swaffham and then on to Thetford.

The BBC Children in Need Appeal show will take place tonight on BBC one at 7pm.
