PC Anna Marshall, whose beat was in Great Yarmouth and Gorleston, died in April from a brain tumour at the age of 31.

Her work and life was remembered at Norfolk Constabulary's annual five-a-side tournament, played at the Norfolk FA's Football Development Centre in Bowthorpe, near Norwich, on Sunday.

The tournament saw 13 teams take to the field and raise money for Brain Tumour Research.

Players were cheered on by PC Marshall's family and representatives from the charity.

Organiser DC Andy Tomlinson, from Bethel Street police station in Norwich, said: 'To raise such a large amount of money is a great achievement.

'The football was fun, but the important thing was that we raised so much money in memory of such a well-respected PC in Anna, and a very well deserving cause in Brain Tumour Research.

'We were also very grateful for members of Anna's family giving their support on the day. Our thanks go to them and also for everyone who donated and who made the event such a great success.'

Before joining the force in 2006 PC Marshall worked as a lifeguard on Gorleston beach. And she continued to put these skills to use with the police as she was also a member of the Norfolk Constabulary Swimming and Lifesaving team.

She married her husband Darren in September 2011, a few months after the shock diagnosis that triggered a gruelling round of surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

A service of thanksgiving was held after her death at St Andrew's Church in Gorleston.
