A tasty array of events and initiatives celebrating the best of Norfolk’s food and drink scene are set to be served up this year.
Some of the highlights of Norfolk Food and Drink 2016 were unveiled at a special launch event for sponsors and supporters at Open in Norwich tonight. It is the 12th year of the organisation championing Norfolk’s food producers and creators, and the second year of it expanding from a festival to being an all-year-round organisation.
Sarah de Chair, Norfolk Food and Drink chairman, said: “Our main aim is to promote Norfolk and put our wonderful county on the foodie map; to get more people talking about Norfolk as a place to go where they can find great restaurants, pubs, accommodation and can purchase a variety of local food and food products which have been lovingly made in our county.”
EDP publisher Archant is Norfolk Food and Drink’s media partner and will be producing a quarterly Norfolk Food and Drink supplement throughout 2016. Among the many events planned are: a Patrons Dinner at Langley Abbey on April 29, with NFAD’s patrons cooking the different courses; Norwich Food and Drink Festival, including the Battle of the Bangers competition, returning in June; and the 10th anniversary of the Wroxham Barns scone competition. Other initiatives include workshops about making small food businesses more efficient and sustainable and NFAD potentially being involved in an online shop for Norfolk producers.
Last night’s launch event was sponsored by Contract Personnel. Adnams is Norfolk Food and Drink’s headline sponsor, Cozens-Hardy sponsor the Norwich Food and Drink Festival, and Norfolk Food and Drink is also supported by a number of other sponsors.
