About 200 people attended a summer party held to raise awareness of an association that helps parishes develop play areas.

The Norfolk Playing Fields Association event on Saturday, June 17, was hosted by John Carrick at Castle Farm, Swanton Morley, and was attended by the Lord Lieutenant of Norfolk, Richard Jewson, President of the NPFA.

Lee Sutton, association chairman, said: “In a picturesque setting, visitors enjoyed free fun and games, with help from the Diocese of Norwich play van and local canoe club.

“Parish councils and playing field committees received advice and support from trustees and the trade stands.

“There were 100 plastic ducks floating down the river Wensum in a duck race, and Norfolk scouts recruited five new members.”

The NPFA was founded in 1926 and provides grants and advice to those developing play areas and playing fields.
