A new fast bus service from Sheringham and Cromer to Norwich city centre has been launched.

The new konectexpress 2 service will run up to every half hour at peak times and every hour throughout the daytime.

Konectbus bosses say the service will be 10 minutes faster than others as it bypasses Aylsham to make the route more direct.

It it konectbus’ first route in the North Norfolk area, as part of their strategy to help increase accessibility into Norwich for people living further afield in smaller towns and villages.

The company says it is ideal for commuters working in the city or Sheringham and Cromer residents looking to do some shopping ahead of Christmas.

Operations & Commercial Director Julian Patterson commented: “We’re pulling out most of the stops to make our new Sheringham and Cromer to Norwich service almost as quick as using the car, but without the cost and stress of driving and the hassle and expense of parking.”

The bus also took passengers directly into the city centre, dropping them straight to Anglia Square, Castle Meadow for Castle Mall or onto the bus station for Chapelfield shopping centre.

Weekly, monthly and annual tickets are available. For fares and timetables visit www.konectbus.co.uk or call 01362 851210. Passengers can also follow konectbus on Twitter @konectbuses.

  • @biglingers - It sounds like you work for Sanders! In fact, the 2 is 10 minutes faster than their direct route. @Mr Majika - Konectbus may now be part of Go-Ahead, but they are in no way out to get more money than smaller independent companies. As for fares, Taken from their websites, Sanders Return from Sheringham £5.50 Konect's return £5 Sanders weekly £26 Konect weekly £20 Konect are generally using 20089 leather seat buses, and up to 30 min frequency at peak times. Seems that many people are liking the service due to the amount of passengers on the first week of the service, and the comments received through different mediums i.e. twitter "ust got on the fanciest bus I've ever been on - leather seats, no standing, lovely bus driver.. Good start to the day :) @konectbuses"

  • I may use it myself, if only to find out how it gets past the 80+ yr olds doing their perpetual 38Mph in the Micra's! My 150Hp Astra struggles with this so I'd be impressed to see the bus do it.

  • Fast? - over 1hr to cover 20miles or so - I think not! It's no quicker than Sanders 44. Fast would be doing it in about 45mins or so - like the X1 to Gt Yarmouth.

  • Benhagger;sounds like you work for Konnect;fares are the same for both from Cromer. Let's see if they rectify the error of missing the main suburb on the route. Sanders have tightened their bus times as well & have been investing in new buses themselves for a few years now, to serve all passengers, not just the few Konnect are looking at. Better bus timings & a more reasonable spread of services to include earlier & later buses would be a good start.

  • It's faster than Sanders 44 - not according to my ttables! They missed a trick here - offering a direct route, and letting Sanders do what they're good at.

  • It's not cheaper than Sanders, same price for all fares on both, less convenient, starts later & finishes earlier. Part of Go Ahead Group, another big operator seeking a quick buck but not really bothering to check their marketplace!

  • It may not be as fast as a car, but in terms of getting the train and then walking to city centre it is about the same, advantage is the price. It is faster than the Sanders 44.

  • Leather seats on the bus I got, very comfortable, good value and fast. In the time it would take to get the train and walk into the centre, can get this bus and do it in the same time for significantly less money. Welcome to north Norfolk Konnect

  • Just done some minor research. A Stagecoach pulled by horses on non tarmac roads managed 7Mph. This manages 20Mph, incredible progress isn't it!!! W've been to the moon, we're currently on Mars, albeit robotically, I fly at 500Mph whenever I travel.

  • Yes, Cromer-Norwich is the same, however Sanders don't seem to mention monthly tickets. Also, Sheringham- Cromer is cheaper on Konect. Konect don't want to have numerous stops, as that's why they have a faster jorney time, which gets people to switch from the car :) Their Route 8 bus Norwich- Dereham fast and rather new x6 Norwich- Attleborough fast are extremely popular, so it seems that these 'fast' buses are more popular than you think. The first bus into Norwich is at 8:25. Well in time for a 9 am start (like many people will have) and the last bus being 17:4045, which again is late enough for people leaving work at around 5pm. Knowing this is the first route in the area for Konect, timing may be a few minutes out, however, the many times I've seen it, it has arriced into norwich bus station at xx:25, bang on time. This would suggest it is spot on time throughout the journey, or that timings give too much time (?) As i say again, It seems reasonaly popular for the first week in service, so we will have to see what happens. :)
