Nicky Price will be the new presenter of the station’s breakfast show from April 7 after it was announced that presenter Chris Goreham had a new role.

In her 14 years as a broadcaster, Nicky Price has presented BBC Radio Norfolk’s Drivetime show and many sporting programmes including the Commonwealth Games and the Paralympics.

David Clayton, managing editor of BBC Radio Norfolk, said: “Nicky is one of Norfolk’s best-known broadcasters as she’s been our voice of news and sport at Breakfast time for five years and stand-in presenter for Chris (Goreham) - so she really knows what the county needs to wake up to each day.”

“Chris will continue to be our voice of football and now takes charge of how BBC Radio Norfolk covers and reacts to the county’s wide range of sporting activities as the station’s Sports Editor. I know he is looking forward to some well-deserved lie-in’s!”

Nicky added: “’It’s a huge honour and a great responsibility to present Breakfast on BBC Radio Norfolk. Chris (Goreham) has done a superb job over the last four and a half years. It’s been great fun being part of his team and he’ll be a hard act to follow.

“Ever since I moved to Norfolk to study at the University of East Anglia in 1995, the county has been a very special place to live and work. The coast, the broads, the villages and the city provide a wealth of stories and features.”

  • The presenters are good but they appear to have as small record library with daily repeats that go on for years , that's probably down to the producer. I think they share the same box of records with North Norfolk Radio.

  • Alan Partridge parodied local radio in Norfolk accurately. All the BBC local stations are dire. Just more re arranging of the deck chairs as the ship sinks.

  • Very poor choice in my opinion, can't stand that Nicky Price as for the change on the Sunday morning show, who cares? God is a thing of the past, put something relevant on, for goodness sake.

  • Let`s just hope they refresh the format and don`t repeat the same piece, again and again. After you have heard it all again for the third or fourth time I just reach for the off switch.

  • one record every half an hour would be nice during Breakfast time ..... I Emailed David Clayton telling him this, the first and second reply was calm but the third reply was snappy !!!

  • They can never compete with Radio 2 or the Today programme. Sadly most of the Radio Norfolk audience are in the graveyard . A combination of snappy reports and good music would make more sense. The station also needs a bit of personality which it sadly lacks.

  • I like Nicky Price and I lIke Chris Goreham , both much better than the old yokel presenters of Radio Norfolks early days. But I agree with BG. Why do they repeat the item over and over? They preview a news item by telling the audience all about it, then they present the piece by telling you what they told you in the preview, then they round it up by telling you what they have just told you in full. Actually Goreham is not averse to doing an item to death. They obviously think we are thick.

  • This radio station just continues to deteriorate under the reins of David Clayton, the man should go back to mobile discos and then even those weren't great. The station is tired and old and needs to reinvent itself, mind you I can't wait for another Saturday afternoon commentary on Kings Lynn playing someone I have never heard of before, what a waste of licence payers money. Dear or dear oh deary me.
