A £588,000 project to build a new village hall in Trimingham is on target to be completed by next March.

North Norfolk MP Norman Lamb visited the site to check on progress at the new purpose-built community centre, just off the main coast road, which will replace the current hall, the pilgrim centre, and will ensure the future of many local groups.

Omnis Construction of Norwich has taken advantage of the good weather since starting at the end of July.

The project has been funded by the Big Lottery Fund, the Pathfinder grant via North Norfolk District Council, Sheringham Shoal and the Geoffrey Watling Foundation. The village also raised £15,000.

Terry Brown, chairman of Trimingham Village Hall Trust, the charity set up to run the new hall, said: “We have been very fortunate with our fundraising work, but it will continue as there is still a need to provide for ongoing support.”
