An action plan is being drawn up to decide the future of an historic Cromer clifftop park.

Earlier bids to update and change the facilities at North Lodge Park, which range from putting and bowls to a children's play area and model yacht pond, hit a dead end.

Now park owners North Norfolk District Council, and Cromer Town Council whose offices are in the middle of it, have teamed up to appoint consultants Aspinall Verdi who will do a study preparing options for 'community ownership' alongside a long- term business case.

NNDC cabinet member Trevor Ivory, who chairs the steering group, said both councils were working hard to bring about a long-term community-based solution to the future of the park, which was enjoyed by many local residents and visitors every year.

Cromer mayor Gwendoline Smith added: 'I am sure that engaging the right business to work with community representatives and councils will ensure the best possible future for North Lodge Park'.

Over the next three month the study will concentrate on the best ways to develop a community trust and the work needed to support any changes.
