It will offer adults with learning difficulties and people who feel isolated a warm welcome and the chance to meet new friends.

North Norfolk MP Norman Lamb opened the garden which was created by the community group RAISE Norfolk, whose members transformed the space behind the hall.

They created raised beds, planted flowers, shrubs and vegetables, and renovated the fence with colourful murals, designed by the members, depicting North Walsham and St Nicholas Church. There is also a bench and picnic table where people can sit and relax.

It was made possible through fundraising and the generosity and support of St Nicholas Church, businesses, individuals and North Walsham Community Shop.

Sara Coleman, co-founder of RAISE Norfolk, said: 'I am extremely proud of the hard work put in by the members and volunteer staff.'
