The Barford Festival returned for its seventh year, and with this years event its biggest yet, organisers are hoping the 1,500 people in attendance will help its profile continue to grow.

The family event was held in aid of the village school, Barford Primary, raising £5,000.

The afternoon and evening was themed around Peter Pan’s Neverland and entertainment ranged from performances from local bands, juggling workshops, fireshows, a ship steered by Captain Hook, zorb balls, and an inflatable assault course.

Mandy Periam, 42, a member of the Friends of Barford School Committee said she thought that someone was looking after the village on the day, as they enjoyed sunshine throughout after a week of heavy rain.

She said the event was praised by the families who came and added she was “really proud” of the village’s achievements.

“It makes our village a really nice place to live and keeps a strong community spirit.”

The money raised will go towards supporting the school and the local community.

Mrs Periam added: “It’s a small village and it’s important to promote our great school.
