Pupils got a cinema trip to reward them for their school work or good behaviour.

Twenty-six students from the Nelson Academy, in Downham Market, visited The Light cinema in Wisbech, with governors and staff, to see Despicable Me 3.

The children were recognised at a recent governor's prize giving ceremony at the academy. Two from each class were awarded certificates for either excellent academic achievement or for being an outstanding role model.

Principal Sarah Wilson said: 'This is the final reward event of the academic year following a new incentive which has been used to encourage hard work and dedication in the classroom.

'We invited parents and carers to attend a special assembly at the end of the term where the academy's governors handed out the certificates. We then announced that the children would be going to The Light to celebrate, which was a complete surprise for everyone in the room.

'The new reward system has been a great success and it is definitely something which we are keen to continue next year.'
