Mystery continues to surround the future of the Millhouse pub in Thorpe St Andrew.
Plans have now been submitted for the pub to be converted into a retail unit but management at the East of England Co-op, which is believed to be taking over the site, still will not confirm their interest.
The plans for the Laundry Lane site have been submitted to Broadland District Council through Yorkshire-based agent Wake Architects Ltd, which will not confirm the Co-op’s interest either.
As recently reported, the pub was boarded up and its car park was fenced off in December.
The Evening News contacted the East of England Co-op about the site earlier this month and Amanda Long, executive officer for membership, marketing and media, would not confirm the company was taking over the site. She said: “We are looking to invest in opportunities in Norfolk, which is an expansion area for us.”
Property agents Roche had been advertising the freehold sale of the pub and its 0.68-acre site, including parking space for 44 cars, for £350,000.
Plans for the site which have been submitted by Wake Architects state: “The proposal is to retain the public house building with internal and external alterations and extensions to allow the building to work as a retail unit and to tidy up the appearance of the multiple past extensions.
“The first floor of the building will retained and used as an independent apartment. The car park access will be retained, and it is intended that deliveries to the retail unit will be made via the car park entrance.”
