Music gig to be held for two-year-old leukemia sufferer from Norwich

A charity concert is being held at the Waterfront in Norwich to raise money for Noah Beschorner-Barker, from Mile Cross, who is battling leukaemia.
The Cure tribute band, Liqueur, will be playing their only Norwich gig this year on Friday, September 12.
All ticket sales, minus the cost of the venue which is generously being subsidised by the Waterfront, will go to Noah Beschorner-Barker’s Leukaemia fund which his family set up to cover the family’s costs of travelling to and from hospital and to cover the needs of Noah.
Mark Ireland, the band’s drummer said: “We all know Noah’s family and Noah’s story and as most of the band are dads ourselves, it was easy to do something because it isn’t something you can ignore.”
The two-year-old was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia in February and his parents, Nick Barker and Victoria Beschorner-Barker, have spent most of the past six months time travelling between their home in Norwich and Cambridge Hospital, which has the specialists who deal with Noah’s form of cancer.
Mr Barker said of the charity gig: “I have known Chris [the band’s singer and guitarist] for over 20 years. He approached me and said he wanted to do this for Noah. We were honoured they would go out their way to do this.”
Liqueur was formed in 2006 through a mutual love of The Cure, and the band have toured around the UK. The charity gig will take place in the main hall at the Waterfront, which holds 800 people, and Mr Ireland is hoping for a big turn out.
“It’s our home gig and the only one we’re doing this year. We wanted to do something special for it anyway but then we heard about Noah and we decided we’d use the gig to raise money for him,” said the Mr Ireland, a 41-year old train conductor from Norwich.
Noah has just completed six months of intensive chemotherapy and is now waiting for a bone marrow harvest on September 8 when his family will know if he is in remission.
Tickets for the gig are £8 and are available from:
