The beautiful mural depicts the iconic Scots pine line landscape of the Brecks with a field of poppies.

Artist Mark Harper was commissioned to create the artwork by Thetford Town Council to honour those who died in the Great War and commemorate the 100th anniversary since it ended.

Mr Harper, who has more than 20 years experience and has created murals in Norwich, has used the Trompe-l’oeil art technique, which makes the work look three dimensional.

The stone work surrounding the landscape has also been painted onto the wall of the Shambles, on the Market Place.

Thousands of knitted and crocheted poppies will also decorate the buildings around the mural as part of the Remembrance events, including the Guildhall clock tower.
