Firefighters faced difficult conditions as high winds fanned a blaze near Cromer lighthouse.
Around 100sqm of bracken, pine trees and scrubland caught fire off Overstrand Road shortly after 6.10am today.
It is understood to have spread from a nearby bonfire, which reignited in the wind.
Fire station manager John Baker said the blaze covered a 'significant area' on a hill leading up to the lighthouse.
He said: 'It involved a 100sqm area of bracken and small pine trees, and the fire was fanned by significant winds when crews arrived.
'The fire is now extinguished and we are damping down to make sure we don't get any calls back to the area.'
Mr Baker said the strong winds posed the biggest 'difficulty'. But he said access to the site was also a problem.
'We had to go over a wall with hoses to get an initial attack on the fire,' he said.
Fire crews from Cromer, Sheringham, Mundesley and North Walsham attended the scene.
Mr Baker said he believed the fire was accidental.
'We found a bonfire in close proximity and wind could have fanned sparks and embers from that,' he said.
'In fairness, the people who had bonfire thought they had put it out.'
