Trains to Norwich are running as normal after a problem with a freight train this morning.

Greater Anglia services between Peterborough and Norwich and Ipswich and Cambridge were disrupted until about 8am.

A statement posted on the Greater Anglia website earlier this morning said: “Due to a fault that has developed on a freight train near Needham Market, the line from Ipswich to Stowmarket is currently blocked.

“This is affecting services between Ipswich and Cambridge, Peterborough and Norwich.

“Greater Anglia and Network Rail are sorry if your journey has been affected by this disruption.”

It added: “Advance purchase tickets holders will be allowed to travel on earlier or later trains if their booked service is cancelled.

“If your journey with us has been delayed by 30 minutes or more, you may be entitled to compensation for a portion of your fare. Please visit www.greateranglia.co.uk/about-us/our-performance/delay-repay for details.”
