Molly Johns has been a playing member at Mundesley Golf Club since 1967 and has been a past ladies’ captain.

She recently picked up two awards from the Mundesley Club, while partnering two younger players.

On June 7 she played and won the Mundesley Club’s Coronation Bronze Mixed competition with Stuart Craske aged 40, and on Sunday, July 6, as part of the Club Captain’s Day, she entered the Couples Cup with Ryan Clarke, who is in his 20s, and won.

David Craske, from Mundesley Golf Club, said: “I think it is a remarkable achievement.”

As well as playing regularly at the Mundesley club Mrs Johns, from Thorpe St Andrew in Norwich, also takes part in various events throughout the county.

Mrs Johns, whose son Peter Johns is manager of Eaton Golf Club, said her interest in the sport was first sparked after visiting the coast to see relatives with her husband Thomas Johns.

She also ran the Norfolk Ladies Golf Captain Society for 26 years and when she retired last year from the group, she was made president.

She said: “I do enjoy golf. I still play but I have a motorised buggy to get around the course now.”
