A Mile Cross woman who claimed nearly £7,500 in benefits which she was not entitled to has been given a conditional discharge.
Jayne Woodyatt yesterday told Norwich magistrates financial pressure had mounted after she lost her job, and she fraudulently claimed housing and council tax benefit between April 2010 and February 2012.
Woodyatt, 48, of Lefroy Road, did not tell Norwich City Council her husband had started work and the couple were no longer relying solely on job seeker’s allowance, and was overpaid £7,747.57.
Woodyatt, who is now repaying the money, pleaded guilty to making dishonest representations to obtain benefit and was given a two-year conditional discharge.
Nearly 3,000 people have supported a Facebook campaign demanding safety improvements on the A47 near Dereham set up after the latest fatal crash.
