The Fire Pit Camp at Wendling, near Dereham will be holding an Italian style “Sagra” this Saturday, which means ‘village lunch festival celebrating local produce’, at its family camping meadow.

Sisters Sarah Hughes-Wade and Rachel Hughes-Green opened the venue last summer with its Wren’s Nest hazel dome tent, urban style warehouse, natural playing fields, retro double decker bus and a new cafe/bar.

After collaborating with Dermott Sales from Slow Food Norwich their event will feature Italian themed tasting sessions, food stalls, arts and crafts, live music, fun and natural play, treasure trails and delicious food by Feast on the Street, Mr T’s pulled pork burgers and handmade wood fired pizzas from The Proper Pizza Co. The new Fire Pit Café will also be open serving local beers and ciders, tea, coffees and homemade cakes and treats.

The event will also be supporting the charity The Neuroblastoma Society and they will be planting a tree in memory of Luke Lacey, their very close friend who passed away after a long battle with the cancer in December.

Mrs Hughes-Wade said: “He fought the cancer, which is very rare in an adult, for over 10 years. His parents will be coming to the event, and his wife. We are getting together lots of prizes for our raffle will include a two night stay at the camp site.”
