McBusted are coming to East Anglia - and they’re bringing US pop sensations The Backstreet Boys with them.
They will play Chantry Park in Ipswich on June 29 - the day after Jessie J, Rizzle Kicks, The Saturdays, Union J, The Vamps, Jason Derulo and more acts still to be revealed perform there as part of East Coast Live.
McFly and Busted announced they were joining forces for a 35-date 2014 arena tour, including three sold-out O2 shows and a headline show at Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park, last year.
The have an arsenal of hits under their belts - from Busted’s What I Go To School For to McFly’s All About You - and boast 14 combined number ones, 20 combined top three singles, 28 combined top 10 singles, 15million combined record sales, three combined Brit Awards, two Kings of the Jungle and one Strictly Come Dancing champion.
McBusted - Matt Willis, James Bourne, Harry Judd, Dougie Poynter, Danny Jones and Tom Fletcher - said: “We can’t wait to be adding further outdoor shows and look forward to playing all the McFly and Busted hits.”
It has been confirmed that ex-Busted member Charlie Simpson, from Woodbridge, won’t be joining the group at the Ipswich concert.
The Backstreet Boys are one of the biggest selling boybands in pop history. They’ve sold 130m records around the world and are enjoying a triumphant return to the charts since reforming in 2012 and releasing new album In A World Like This last year.
“We haven’t played on the east coast of the UK before so we’re looking forward to seeing all your faces and can’t wait,” said the band, known for hits like I Want It that Way and Everybody (Backstreet’s Back).
Also on the bill is English indie rock band Scouting For Girls, 5IVE and Diversity.
Councillor Bryony Rudkin, Ipswich Borough Council’s culture portfolio-holder, said: “The Ipswich summer is just getting better and bigger. This McBusted concert, with big name back-up acts, comes a day after the Jessie J and Rizzle Kicks event in Chantry Park.
“It proves, again, the biggest names want to play here. This weekend will be a highlight of the Ipswich Arts Festival and attract many thousands of people, which will have a beneficial knock-on effect for the town’s businesses.”
Tickets for the AEG Live concert go on sale 10am this Friday from www.aeglive.co.uk
