Police are appealing for witnesses and information after the incident, on the Runton Road bowling green.

The man was walking along Runton Road at 12.25am with two male friends when they were approached by a group of three to four people, at least one believed to be female.

The man became separated from his friends and was assaulted on the bowling green, sustaining serious slash wounds to one arm and injuries to his other arm and head.

The group made off and emergency services were called to the scene. He was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital where he underwent surgery but he has since been released.

Anyone with information should dial 101 and ask for DC Mark Randall of Great Yarmouth CID, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
