A man was taken to hospital with a head injury following a crash close to a roundabout at Brundall.
Fire crews from Earlham and Sprowston were called to reports of a car on fire in a field off the A47 at Blofield, close to the Brundall roundabout, at just after 5.20pm today.
It later emerged the car had gone through a fence and was smoking, but was not on fire.
Firefighters used hydraulic rescue equipment to release the male casualty, who was taken to the James Paget University Hospital in Gorleston by ambulance.
An ambulance service spokesman, who said two ambulances and a rapid response vehicle attended, described the head injury as “not serious”.
A driver had to be rescued from a river in Thetford after the Ford Focus he was travelling in came off the road.
