A 19-year-old man was taken to hospital after jumping into the river near a city hotel.

Fire crews from Carrow, Sprowston and Earlham assisted police and ambulance crews with the rescue of a man who had jumped into the River Wensum, near the Premier Inn at Duke Street, at 3.21am today.

The man initially was uncooperative with emergency services but later climbed out and was taken to hospital.
