A man has been taken to hospital after injuring himself on a drill when he fell from a ladder.

The man, in his 60s, was holding the tool when he fell at an address in Scratby, near Great Yarmouth, just after 1pm today. The drill “made contact” with his neck. His injuries have been described as serious but not life threatening.

An ambulance officer, an ambulance and the East of England Air Ambulance were sent to the property after NHS call handlers received a 111 non-emergency call which was then patched through to 999.

“The call then came through to us,” said a spokesman for the ambulance service.

“A man fell from a ladder and injured his neck on a drill.

“He had been on the ladder holding a drill when he fell and the drill made contact with his neck.”

The man has been taken to the James Paget University Hospital for treatment.

nNHS 111 is used when you need urgent need medical help or advice but it’s not a life-threatening situation.
