The man, who is believed to be 21, had a lucky escape yesterday (Sunday) after the 50kg bed frame he was cleaning fell on top of him – crushing his chest and abdomen.

It is understood that two ambulance crews from the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EEAST) were called to an address in Oakwood Road just after 4.30pm yesterday (Sunday). They received an emergency call following reports of a man trapped under a bed – however before the ambulance crews had arrived at the scene, the man managed to free himself.

But having suffered chest and abdominal injuries, the man was taken to the James Paget University Hospital in Gorleston for emergency scans, which showed he had suffered multiple rib fractures, bruising to the lung and abdominal bruising. It is understood that the man was discharged from hospital last night.

A friend of the injured man said that he was recovering from his injuries today, and was said to be mobile but “in a lot of pain and resting.”
