A body dragged from the river in Thetford has been identified as a man who was reported missing earlier this month.
Laimutais Karsokas, 47, from Lithuania, was last seen in Thetford on February 26. His body was found by police in the river, close to Thetford Grammar School, on Bridge Street, shortly after midday on Friday.
Divers were sent into the river shortly after the body was found. Police arrived on the scene at 9am and a cordon was in place until 2.30pm.
Police said Mr Karsokas’ next of kin had been informed.
A post-mortem will take place today and his death is currently being treated as unexplained.
Anyone with any information about Mr Karsokas’ whereabouts in recent weeks should contact police on 101.
Nearly 3,000 people have supported a Facebook campaign demanding safety improvements on the A47 near Dereham set up after the latest fatal crash.
