A 45-year-old man is due to appear at Ipswich Magistrates Court this morning charged with aggravated burglary with intent to steal.

Mitchell Martin, of Kendal Road in Lowestoft, is due to appear at court after an incident in London Road South at the home of a man in his 80s.

The man was in his flat, between the Rectory Road and Cliff Road junctions, at around 9.30pm on Wednesday, August 29 when he heard a smash and noise by his front door. He went to investigate and found a man breaking into his home.

Mitchell Martin was subsequently arrested yesterday afternoon.
