The victim, aged in her 60s, was walking along Almond Road at around 2.10pm yesterday (Monday).

She was close to Westbrook Avenue when a man tried to snatch her handbag from her shoulder.

He was unsuccessful and ran off in the direction of the cemetery.

He is described as 5ft 7in to 5ft 8in tall, of slim build and wearing a multi-coloured woollen hat with ear flaps and braided cords on either side, a green three-quarter length jacket and blue jeans.

Police are keen to speak to a man and woman who were in Almond Road and may have witnessed the incident.

Officers would also like to hear from anyone who may have spotted any suspicious behaviour in the area or seen anyone matching such a description.

Witnesses are asked to call Det Con Matt Cornwall at Great Yarmouth CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
