An 80-year-old man died after a collision between two cars on the A1122, between Downham Market and Swaffham.
Police said the head-on crash involved a blue Honda Civic and a grey Audi A3.
It happened at Stradsett, on the Downham Market side of the staggered junction with the A134, on Friday night.
Brian Long, county councillor for the Fincham division, which includes Stradsett and neighbouring villages, said: “I’ve heard numerous concerns about the junction and the speed of vehicles travelling through Fincham but haven’t heard any complaints about the Downham Market stretch of road.
“It’s straight and fast but I don’t know the circumstances of the crash, and without knowing the circumstances it’s very difficult to comment.”
All three emergency services attended Friday night’s collision, which happened at around 8.20pm.
The elderly driver of the Honda Civic suffered serious injuries and was flown to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, in King’s Lynn, by air ambulance.
The man, who has not yet been named, later died in hospital. The female driver of the Audi escaped with what were described as minor injuries.
The road was closed for four hours, as police crash investigators examined the scene.
Officers are appealing for anyone who was in the area and may have seen the crash to call the serious collision investigvation team on 101.
