A man in his 60s has been treated by ambulance for 'superficial burns' to his hand after a fire at a house in Thetford.

Fire crews from Thetford and East Harling attended were called to reports of a fire in a premises on Elm Road at just before 6.50pm tonight.

The fire was extinguished before the brigade arrived, however there was one casualty with burns to hand who was attended to by the ambulance crew.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service Trust (EEAST) said an ambulance was sent to the address at 6.50pm and treated a man, believed to be in his 60s, after he suffered superficial burns to his hand.

The spokesman said: 'We were able to treat him on scene and didn't need to take him to hospital. We were able to leave him at home.'
