A LIFEBOAT crew rescued a man who dived into the water at Southwold.
Southwold lifeboat was called out about 3pm yesterday afternoon (Saturday) after the man - whose age has not been disclosed - contacted police threatening to jump in.
But no sooner had the man entered the water, the Southwold lifeboat crew - whose station in Ferry Road is near to the scene where the River Blyth enters the North Sea - was on hand to rescue him.
A spokesman for the RNLI Southwold Lifeboat Station said that they were called out following reports of a 'person in the water in the harbour,' with the 'casualty recovered and warmed up back on station' as the lifeboat was quickly ready for service again at 3.10pm.
The man was handed over to police who detained him under the Mental Health Act.
