A man in his 80s was airlifted to hospital in a 'life-threatening condition' after suffering a cardiac arrest in Melton Constable, near Fakenham.

The East Anglian Air Ambulance landed in the village after the medical emergency was reported near St Edmunds Church this afternoon.

The helicopter paramedics treated the patient alongside their East of England Ambulance Service colleagues and managed to resuscitate him. He was then flown to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital for further treatment.

The Anglia One helicopter had earlier been called to Wickmere, between Aylsham and Cromer, to help a patient at a private address, landing shortly before 9.30 am.

Captain Neil Waller flew Dr Victor Inyang and critical care paramedic Ben Caine to the scene, who administered pain relief to the patient before escorting them to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. The patient was described as being in a stable condition.
