Man dies after industrial incident in Seething

A man died after an industrial incident at a business premises on the edge of a quiet Norfolk village.

Police, fire and ambulance crews all rushed to the village of Seething, which is west of Loddon, this afternoon, after a report had been made of a man being injured.

The man was said to have been injured by an agricultural machine and later in the afternoon it was revealed that he had died at the scene.

A spokesman for Norfolk Police confirmed the news, saying: “Norfolk Constabulary can confirm a man in his 30s has sadly died following an incident at a business premises in Upgate Road, Seething.”

The emergency services had been called with the report of a man being injured by an agricultural machine at a business at that address at around 1.40pm.

The East of England Ambulance Service, East Anglian Air Ambulance and Norfolk Fire and Rescue all descended on the village along with Norfolk police.

The police spokesman said: “The death of the man, who died at the scene, is not being treated as suspicious however, due to the circumstances, a post-mortem examination is due to take place on Saturday.”

They confirmed that the Health and Safety Executive had been informed of what had happened and that enquiries were ongoing at the scene this evening.

The Health and Safety Executive is the national independent watchdog which monitors work-related health, safety and illness, and is informed of all deaths that occur in a workplace environment.

No further information was revealed about the incident, however a police car was blocking off a lane leading away from Upgate Road.
