A 56-year-old man suffered a cut above his eye and swelling to his lip after he was assaulted on the doorstep of a home in Victoria Road, Lowestoft, last night.

A female resident at the property answered a knock at the door at about 9.30pm and found a man who asked for the 56-year-old by name. The victim came to the door but after a brief conversation he was then struck in the face by the caller several times before the offender ran away.

The attacker was white, in his late teens to 20s, 5ft 10in, of slim build and was wearing a grey hooded top with the hood up and blue jeans.

Anyone who saw the assault or the suspect involved, or anyone with information about who he is, should call PC 1416 Pallett at Lowestoft on 101.
