Aylsham café owner Stuart Morton hoped to get customers’ taste buds tingling with a £1-a-go “guess the ingredients” cake competition, which he laid on as part of his coffee morning.
Mr Morton, who runs Purdy’s Tea Rooms at Woodgate Nursery, hoped to sell more than 500 hot drinks, the proceeds of which will go to Macmillan.
The tea rooms was offering prizes of £25 of cafe vouchers to the customer guessing the cake ingredients correctly, with £100 of nursery vouchers going to the person managing to come up with the name of the dog in the statue standing outside.
“We raised £750 in previous years, so I am hoping to top £1,000 this time,” Mr Morton said. “I think it is a fantastic cause. My mum has had cancer and a lot of our staff know someone who has been affected by it.”
