A barn which was to house ducks caught fire on the A146 in Hellington Corner, causing problems for motorists as thick smoke was blown across the road.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service said that the fire was caused accidentally and that the barn was empty as no ducks had yet been moved in.

Emergency services attended the fire at around 9.20am, with police helping guide traffic through the smoke.

The fire caused delays on the A146 and despite the heavy smoke, no road closures were put in place.

Fire crews from Carrow, Earlham, Loddon, Sprowston, Wymondham and Hethersett also rushed to the scene.

The fire was put out at around 10.30am but one fire crew stayed around the scene for longer as smoke continued to pour from the barn.
