Samantha Pitcher, 28, of Maidstone Road, Lowestoft, was charged by police after David Wright died when the blue Renault Megane she was driving was involved in a collision on the A12 Yarmouth Road.

The fatal collision happened near to the Foxburrow Beefeater pub and restaurant just before 9pm on Monday, February 18.

Mr Wright, 74, of Gainsborough Drive, Gunton, was crossing the road with his wife when it happened.

He was pronounced dead at the James Paget University Hospital in Gorleston, where his wife was treated for serious injuries.

In addition to a charge of causing death by careless driving, Pitcher faces a charge of using a motor vehicle in a condition likely to cause danger of injury.

Her plea and case management hearing, which was due to be held on December 20 at Ipswich Crown Court, will now take place on January 29 and if she pleads not guilty at this hearing a trial will take place in March.
