A Lowestoft woman accused of causing the death of a retired architect by careless driving has made her first appearance at Ipswich Crown Court.
Samantha Pitcher, 28, of Maidstone Road, was charged by police after David Wright died when the blue Renault Megane she was driving was involved in a collision with him on the A12 Yarmouth Road.
The fatal collision happened near to the Foxburrow Beefeater pub and restaurant just before 9pm on Monday, February 18.
Mr Wright, 74 of Gainsborough Drive, Gunton, was crossing the road with his wife when the collision happened. He was pronounced dead at the James Paget University Hospital in Gorleston, where his wife was treated for serious injuries.
In addition to a charge of causing death by careless driving Pitcher faces a charge of using a motor vehicle in a condition likely to cause danger of injury.
Her preliminary hearing at Ipswich Crown Court was adjourned until December 20 for a plea hearing.
