A volunteer lifeboat crew from the Lowestoft RNLI was called out to help a small fishing boat that was in difficulties with engine failure last night.

The all-weather lifeboat Spirit of Lowestoft launched shortly after 6.50pm and on reaching the vessel Silver Fox, which was close inshore at Pakefield, found that the two-man crew had been trying for an hour to restart their engine. However just after calling for help they had finally been successful.

The fishing boat was able to limp back to the safety of the harbour escorted by the lifeboat.
